- 1919: The 1st "ready Loumidis coffee" store opens in Piraeus
The Loumidis brothers open their first coffee store, at 12 Retsina Street, in Piraeus, Attica. There, they acquire the first stone mill and a roaster of 10 oka, building valuable experience in the grinding and roasting of good Greek coffee.
- 1920: Distribution of coffee by the Loumidis brothers
The Loumidis brothers, investing in their reputation for the production of "unadulterated" Greek coffee, begin the distribution of coffee by cart, in the neighborhoods of Piraeus.
- 1923: Operation of the first coffee store
The Loumidis brothers are expanding their business and opening their first coffee mill at 5 Tsamadou Street in Piraeus, establishing Papagalos as a brand of ready-made coffee "Loumidis Papagalos".
- 1927: "Each in its own way and Loumidis in coffees"
Introduction of the "slogan": "Everyone in his kind and Loumidis in coffees", a phrase that accompanies Greek coffee until today, and was to pass into our everyday language.
- 1930: The historic Loumidis coffee store in the area of Chaftia
In the old café of "Chafta" at the crossing of Aiolou and Panepistimiou streets, which gave its name to the area of Chaftia, opens the historic coffee store Loumidis.
- 1931: The first Loumidis coffee store in Thessaloniki
Greek coffee Loumidis Papagalos spreads its wings in the rest of Greece, opening the first coffee store in Thessaloniki, on Tsimiski Street.
- 1938: A new store - "The loft of Loumidis"
A new coffee shop opens on Stadiou Street, which went down in history as "the Loumidis Loft". In this loft, over a cup of Greek coffee Loumidis Papagalos, prominent personalities of letters, arts and journalism meet to discuss and exchange ideas and opinions. Here, Gatsos composes, in one night, "Amorgos" and here "Matomenos Gamos", from the Art Theater, under the music of the well-known guest, Manos Hadjidakis, is being created.
- 1973: The factory for the industrial production of standard coffee
Loumidis SA inaugurates a state-of-the-art, for the data of the time, factory of industrial production of standard coffee, in Oinofyta, Boeotia.
- 1987: Nestlé welcomes the Greek coffee "Loumidis Papagalos"
Nestlé welcomes Greek coffee Loumidis Papagalos to its family, opening a new golden page in the history of Greek coffee.
- 2014: New generation of packages Loumidis Papagalos
Greek coffee Loumidis Papagalos presents to the friends of authentic coffee the new generation of packages, which stand on their own, open easily and close again, maintaining the rich aroma and taste of coffee.
- 2018: New state-of-the-art roasting unit at the Oinofyta factory
It is the first time that Greek coffee is roasted in such a way, taking off both its taste and its aromas. The state-of-the-art roasting unit is the latest in technology and provides more intense aromas and richer flavors, for even greater enjoyment! The ultimate goal is to meet the taste demands of consumers, which are constantly evolving, having Loumidis Papagalos as a companion in the journey of enjoying Greek coffee.
- 2020: Loumidis Papagalos celebrates his 100th birthday!
Our favorite coffee Loumidis Papagalos celebrates its 100th anniversary and adds a new chapter to its fascinating history! With him, in this journey, are Dimitra Galani and Eleonora Zouganeli, who interpret in their own unique way "Like my mind is enchanted", in the anniversary campaign, which unfolds through a total of six stories!
